Driving Business Growth Through User-Centered Design

I'm Helen, a product designer who has worked across social platforms, B2B SaaS, and research products.

Over the past 5 years, I've worked with international teams across Europe and the US, designing products that people actually use. As the founding designer at CoffeeSpace, I led a platform redesign that increased daily engagement by 10% and grew the community from 250 to 650 members in 6 months, work that helped secure their funding round.

I've been the solo designer shipping features weekly, the founding designer building brands from scratch, and the person who jumps between research, design systems, brand design and growth experiments depending on what the team needs that week.

What I bring: I combine user research, strategic thinking, and hands-on design to solve problems quickly. I also understand code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), which means I can collaborate closely with engineers and occasionally build things myself like the AI expense tracker I'm recently working on.

What makes me different: I run a design research platform called Indigenous Grid, where I explore how different cultures structure visual meaning through textiles, symbols, and patterns. It's taught me to think about design systems more deeply and design for global audiences more thoughtfully. It also means I ask questions like "what cultural assumptions are we embedding in this interface?" which sometimes leads to better product decisions.

What I'm looking for: I'm seeking a product design role where I can make real impact. I'm especially interested in AI-powered products, B2B SaaS, or social platforms building for global audiences. I want to work with a team that values impact and thoughtful craft.

Currently: Building AI products, publishing design research, and auditing AI product experiences. Open to remote opportunities with teams building something meaningful.

When I'm not designing, I'm researching cultural design systems, experimenting with new AI tools, or having coffee with other designers and founders. I think great design happens when you combine empathy with strategy and actually ship things which is what I try to bring to every project.

My design process

EMPATHIZE

I start by understanding the business problem and user needs through research, stakeholder interviews, and competitive analysis. The goal is to define the real problem before exploring solutions.

DEFINE

I translate research into clear problem statements, user personas, journey maps, and success metrics tied to business outcomes. This aligns the team on what we're solving and how we'll measure success.

Ideate

I explore multiple solutions through sketching, wireframing, and collaborative workshops. The goal is to find the simplest solution that addresses the core problem effectively.

Build & Refine

I create high-fidelity designs with detailed specifications, design systems, and responsive layouts. Every design is built with developers in mind, making implementation smooth and accurate.

VALIDATE

I test designs with real users through usability testing and iterate based on feedback. Post-launch, I review analytics and continue improving based on how people actually use the product.

outcome

My focus is delivering measurable business outcomes: increased revenue, reduced churn, improved engagement metrics, and faster time to market. I design products that drive business growth through exceptional user experiences.
